Decorative Concrete Overlay
Decorative concrete overlay is an integral part of the decorative concrete industry. It is no longer necessary to remove and dispose of concrete in order to have a decorative concrete finish. There are overlay products sophisticated enough that they can be applied over existing concrete and provide years and years of beautification. They can be as elaborate as stamped concrete or as simple as a new broom finish.
The most desirable overlay is usually the
stamped concrete overlay
. This surface is put on as thin as 1/4" and as thick as 1/2". It is then stamped to create the appearance of stone, slate, brick, tile or wood. Stamped concrete is commonly found on driveways, walkways, porches and pool decks. It is also becoming more popular for interior applications. Spray deck overlay is a common decorative concrete finish for pool decks. It is, however, becoming popular for driveways, walkways, porches and patios as well. It still provides a decorative concrete finish, but for a much lower cost to the customer. The
spray deck overlay material
is usually only 1/16" thick. It provides great traction for surfaces that you don't want to be slippery when wet. It can be applied in a solid color, tape pattern or with a
concrete stencil pattern

Sometimes customers might not be looking for a decorative concrete finish. They might be looking for something to just cover up discolored concrete or concrete that has pitted and spalled. There is a
broom finish overlay product
that will achieve the customer's desire. It is used when the customer only wants a new broom finish. The broom finish overlay can be gray or colored. The example below is a plain gray broom finish overlay with a spray deck border.
