One of the first things that you do when arriving at your job is ground preparation. Often times, this will include removing some sod that surrounds your customers flower beds. This can be done the old fashioned way with shovels, picks and axes; or you can save time, labor and your back by using a Bededger Trenchmaster or a Ryan Jr. Sod Cutter. The Bededger Trenchmaster removes sod by mulching the grass and dirt. It does not leave the edges of the trench as clean as a sod cutter, but the remaining mulch is much easier to dispose of. Often times your customer will have a place in his yard where you can dispose of the mulch or it is light enough that it can be put in garbage sacks and thrown away. The Bededger Trenchmaster is very easy to use and maneuver.

The Ryan Jr. Sod Cutter is one of the best, industrial strength, sod cutters on the market. The Ryan Jr. cuts out sod up to 12" wide. The trench that it leaves for curbing is very smooth with clean edges. The only downfall is that you have do dispose of the sod that you cut out. Sometimes the customer will need the sod in other parts of their yard, but if they don't you will have to haul it away and dispose of it on your own.
