Decorative Concrete Countertops
Decorative concrete countertops are growing in popularity in homes, businesses and restaurants. They can be integrally colored, acid stained, polished or even stamped. Decorative countertops can really add to the unique style of any home.
These countertops can be precast or poured in place. Special
countertop forms
can be used to provide different profiles for the face of the countertop. The forms are about 2" thick and can be shaped or mitered to almost any angle. The forms have a perfect texture so that they can be stripped early enough to provide enough time for finishing.

After the countertop has been formed, the concrete mixture will be poured into the surface area. The
concrete countertop mix
should be modified with co-polymers and water reducers to provide a high strength mixture with little bleed water. Then the countertop will be vibrated and troweled. When the concrete has set suffiently, the forms will be stripped and the edges will be finished.
After the countertop has cured for a few days, the surface can be polished.
Countertop polishing
will make the surface more smooth. It can also help to expose aggregate to help you acheive a granite style finish. The polishing is typically a wet polish and the surface will have to be cleaned well before sealer is applied.
After the surface has been polished, cleaned and dried, it is time to apply the
concrete countertop sealer
. The best sealer to use is a sealer that is FDA approved. Sealer can be sprayed, rolled or painted onto the surface.

Decorative countertops will be a great addition to any home. They are beautiful and unique.
